Tech Events in Europe (outside France) 2026-2027: the calendar of major international gatherings

Introduction
Beyond France's borders, Europe hosts several events that serve as global benchmarks for the tech, data, and AI ecosystem. These events bring together tens of thousands of attendees from every continent and take the pulse of the major technology trends and capital movements that will shape the following year.
For an executive or CIO at a mid-sized company looking to broaden their market watch beyond the French ecosystem, these events offer direct access to the major global trends in AI, fintech, and connectivity — often ahead of what will eventually reach France. Here is the calendar of the main European tech events outside France, from September 2026 to August 2027.
September 2026: Cologne, digital marketing at a European scale
DMEXCO — September 23-24, 2026, Koelnmesse, Cologne, Germany. Europe's benchmark event for digital marketing, advertising, and the digital economy since 2009, DMEXCO brings together more than 1,000 exhibitors and around 40,000 industry visitors every year. The event covers the entire digital value chain: programmatic advertising, AI-powered marketing, SEO, e-commerce, and data. A relevant event for any company shaping its content and digital acquisition strategy at a European scale.
November 2026: Lisbon and Helsinki, two different visions of the startup world
Web Summit — November 9-12, 2026, Altice Arena and FIL, Lisbon, Portugal. One of the largest tech events in the world, often nicknamed the "Davos of tech," it brings together more than 70,000 attendees from over 160 countries: startup founders, investors, executives from large corporations, policymakers, and journalists. The program covers AI, deep tech, fintech, climate, and digital public policy, with a strong focus this year on venture capital flows and new fundraising strategies.
Slush — November 18-19, 2026, Helsinki Expo and Convention Centre, Finland. The opposite of Web Summit's mass-scale approach, Slush bets on the quality of connections rather than volume: around 13,000 carefully selected attendees, a high density of investors (representing several trillion euros in assets under management), and a tight two-day format entirely designed for startup founders seeking funding. A benchmark event for understanding European and Nordic venture capital dynamics.
March 2027: Barcelona, the world's grand gathering for connectivity
MWC Barcelona (Mobile World Congress) — March 1-4, 2027, Fira Gran Via, Barcelona, Spain. Organized by the GSMA, the world's largest event dedicated to connectivity celebrates its 21st edition with more than 100,000 attendees, around 2,900 exhibitors, and 200 countries represented. While the event remains centered on mobile telephony and telecoms, its program has expanded considerably into artificial intelligence, IoT, cloud, cybersecurity, and next-generation digital infrastructure (5G, 6G). A must-attend event for any company whose business touches connectivity, connected devices, or telecom infrastructure.
June 2027: Amsterdam, Europe's fintech capital
Money20/20 Europe — June 8-10, 2027, RAI Amsterdam, Netherlands. Europe's largest gathering dedicated to fintech, payments, and financial services brings together more than 7,000 attendees, a third of whom are C-level executives, around payments, digital banking, cryptocurrency, and embedded finance. Sessions also cover AI integration in financial services and the sector's regulatory challenges — a useful watch point for mid-sized companies in finance or insurance exploring AI automation for their processes.
How to choose the right event based on your goals
These five events serve different purposes, which are worth distinguishing before investing in a trip:
- For a broad watch on AI and global tech trends: Web Summit in Lisbon offers the most complete panorama, at the cost of a very high attendee density.
- To meet investors and refine a fundraising strategy: Slush in Helsinki prioritizes the quality of connections over audience size.
- For connectivity, IoT, and infrastructure topics: MWC Barcelona remains the global reference, with AI carrying growing weight in its program.
- For digital marketing and acquisition: DMEXCO in Cologne is the most structured event at a European scale.
- For fintech and payments: Money20/20 Europe in Amsterdam concentrates most of the European digital financial ecosystem.
What these events bring to a French mid-sized company
Contrary to a common assumption, these major international events aren't reserved for multinationals. They offer a mid-sized company three concrete benefits: a head start on trends that will later reach the French market, direct access to technology solutions and partners not necessarily found within the French ecosystem, and a useful benchmark to assess where its own AI maturity stands relative to the rest of Europe.
